Ignition Interlock Device or “IID”

“DO I HAVE TO INSTALL AND IGNITION INTERLOCK DEVICE IN MY CAR?”

An ignition interlock device is an in-car breathalyzer the DMV requires you to install in your car after a DMV conviction.  It is programmed so that if it measures alcohol in your system, you cannot start your vehicle.

Los Angeles County is part of a pilot program in California which requires EVERYONE who is convicted of DUI have a device installed.  You can be required to have the device in your car for up to 5 months!  Pat Carey, knowing the ins and outs of DMV proceedings, will fight relentlessly to make sure this is not a condition of your probation in your criminal case, an even better, will fight to have your charges reduced so that you don’t have to have the device installed at all.
