The Law Offices of J. Patrick Carey was recently featured in the Los Angeles Times as Attorney J. Patrick Carey provided critical insight into a high-profile case involving two teenagers charged with felony assault in Hermosa Beach.
According to authorities, a group of boys ages 13 to 15 were recorded on surveillance cameras during an altercation that left a 57-year-old man unconscious. Two teens were later arrested and charged with felony assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.
Attorney J. Patrick Carey, who represents one of the minors, emphasized that the video circulating online does not capture the full context of how the incident began. In his statement to the LA Times, Carey explained:
“The evidence will show that the minors reacted when an adult man aggressively confronted and attacked their friend. Their conduct occurred in direct response to that aggression and in an effort to protect him.”
The case remains under investigation as the Hermosa Beach Police Department continues gathering information and interviewing all involved parties. Additional charges may be considered.
